One of the standout moments of this year’s Asian Games came on Wednesday, when Indian racewalkers Manju Rani and Ram Babu clinched a bronze medal in the mixed 35 km racewalk event. This achievement not only added to India’s medal count also shattered the previous n ational record in the process.

Ojas Devatale and Jyoti Surekha Vennam, two compound archers, won the gold medal in the mixed- team competition, giving their nation 71st medal overall.

After an astounding 5 hours, 51 minutes, and 14 seconds of challenging competition, the winner was announced. The Chinese team (5:16:41 hours) won gold, while Japan (5:22:11 hours) won silver. The Indian team won the bronze.

Later, PM Modi praised India’s win in the mixed team compound archery, which gave them a gold medal. “India’s first gold in archery at the Asian Games!” he tweeted. I congratulate Jyoti Surekha and Ojas for scoring in the mixed- team compound event. Their superior abilities, accuracy, and teamwork have ensured an outstanding podium finish. Congratulations to them!”

Jyoti and Ojas defeated a South Korean pair in a closely contested match, winning by just one point with a score of 159-158. India has made history at the current Games with this gold medal in archery. India has surpassed its previous best from Jakarta 2018 (70 medals). With 16 gold, 26 silver, and 29 bronze medals, India has now had one of its best Asian Games ever.
